The days are getting shorter, the weather’s getting colder, and advent calendars have become the nation’s breakfast. That’s right; it’s the Christmas season.
Some of us are full of festive cheer all year round. Others are shouting ‘Bah Humbug!’. One thing we can agree on is that when the holiday season hits, nothing beats curling up under the blankets with a hot cup of cocoa and your favourite video games. You don’t even have to venture out into the cold to see your friends, simply slip on your headset and it’s a party.
With that in mind, here are four festive levels you can get cosy with to share some Christmas spirit!
4) Kingdom Hearts 2: Halloween Town
We love Disney, we loveKingdom Hearts, and we love Christmas! So, this one’s a no-brainer. Based onTim Burton’s deliciously dark musical about the king of Halloween Town discoveringChristmas, this level brings the film to life for all to see.
As Sora, you’ll get to hangout with Jack Skellington, meet the sinister Santa, and take on Oogie Boogie.Even better, you’ll get the full Christmas Town experience our old pal Jack wanted his Halloween Town folk to enjoy. It’s a village made of candy canes andChristmas trees, what’s better than that?
3) Banjo-Kazooie – Freezeezy Peak
As if a video game about a bear and a bird taking on a witch attempting to steal their sister’s beauty isn’t equal parts adorable and ridiculous already, there’s a whole level dedicated to Christmas.
Freezeezy Peak is everything you know and love about Banjo-Kazooie. Only it’s decked (the halls) out in heaps of snow. Not content with letting you run and jump your way through it, you’ll get to make like Santa and his reindeers and fly above it all. You’ll meet a snowball-flinging snowman and the biggest Christmas tree you’ll ever see. We promise.
2)World Of Warcraft – The Feast Of Winter Veil
Okay, so this one technically isn’t a level. But there’s a whole lot of Christmas, so we’re going with it.
Every year, the annual Feast of the Winter Veil festival takes place between December 16th and Christmas Day. And trust us when we say, few games do festivities like World of Warcraft.
You’ll set off on seasonal side quests to save reindeers, fight grinches, and fling snowballs. Better yet, there’s a whole sleigh-load of presents sitting under the tree for you all to enjoy.
1) Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Toy Day
Oh boy, will we ever make a single list without talking about Animal Crossing? Probably not. But how could we hold back – they have Toy Day every year!
It takes place on every edition of Animal Crossing between 5 am on Christmas Eve to 5 am on ChristmasDay. It doesn’t matter which part of the world you’re in as it’s the same for everyone.
You’ll know Toy Day is full swing when Isabelle dons her Santa Hat, there are holiday-themed tunes, and Jingle the Reindeer is needing your help! From here on in, you’ll craft festive wrapping paper, give gifts to your villagers, and explore your island decked out in Christmas items. Our favourite thing is shaking those trees and having baubles fall out instead of fruit.
