Mods and CC To Enhance Your Sims 4 Game

Written by
Sarah Hook

The Sims as a franchise has existed for over 20 years with the first Sims game being released in February 2000, meaning the modders have had a lot of time to perfect their creations. The Sims 4 mods and CC creators are a pure gift to the community, even though EA have provided an abundance of packs with new content they can't do everything. If you're new to Mods and CC the best websites to check are The Sims Resource and Mod The Sims and even Tumblr. The list of mods and CC is never ending so this list won't include everything we recommend - look out for another post for that!

Installation Guide

It couldn't be easier to install Mods and CC to the Sims 4. Once you've downloaded your files head over to your documents, find the files you downloaded and paste them into "Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods"**Make sure that they are not more than one folder deep in the Mods folder or they may not work**Once you load the game go to game options > other > tick "Enable custom content and Mods" and "Script Mods Allowed"To identify what is custom content in your game the thumb nail will have a small wrench in the corner.

MC Command Centre by Deaderpool

If you want complete control over almost anything that happens in the Sims then MC Command Centre is the mod for you. It includes functions such as changing your Sims appearance without the need to launch CAS, set relationship levels with other Sims and even changing the time and weather. The most life saving feature however is the auto-save. This has saved me on more than one occasion.Download MC Command Centre Here

Slice Of Life by KawaiiStacie

This base game compatible mod adds some extensive features to the game. Small details such as more realistic facial expressions make a huge impact. Also included with the mod is an overhauled emotions system, instead of your Sims being "Very Flirty" for example, now they will be "Passionate"This mod also adds a huge number of new interactions and activities for your Sim. To access these just click on your Sim and find the "Slice of Life" option, from here you can choose from;

  • Body Care
  • Fitness
  • Shopping
  • Skin Care
  • Smart Phone
  • Control Panel (for adjusting settings)

Red Shelf Tool

The perfect tool for cluttering up shelves, kitchen counters and pretty much everything else in your Sims homes. Usually when placing clutter you're stuck to using the grid system but with the red shelf tool items can be placed at any height and in any spot.

Custom Skin Details

Let's face it - the skin options and details in the Sims are lacking. Currently in the Sims 4 there are 35 skin tones to choose from, 10 of which are darker skin tones and 10 for Aliens. Since the games release two significant skin packs have been created to replace the discoloured and "ashy" skin tones. Xmiramira and EbonixSims created the skin packs in order to help black players create Sims which truly represents them. It's not only custom skin tones which can enhance your game play however. In order to bring your Sims into reality custom skin details can also be downloaded. These can vary from some freckles, to wrinkles or even an entire body overlay. If you're only going to add one type of custom content skin details then it needs to be eyelashes. Once you put eyelashes on your Sims it really highlights how odd they look without them. The same goes with body hair - real people don't look like Barbie and Ken so why should your Sims!

Clothes and Hair

Last but not least we have to discuss the clothes and hair offered by custom content creators. Some of the options in the game for Sims 4 are ... different. If you're looking for something more up to date, branded or just more realistic then custom content clothes are just what you need. The same goes with the hair, with different styles being offered by CC creators there's plenty for each and every Sim to have a completely different look.
