It's here! It's here! It's finally here! After too many months of speculation Sony have finally revealed in their PS5 announcement what the price and the release date is for the PS5. Unsurprisingly after the announcement from Microsoft earlier this week regarding the Series S and X, Sony showed all in a live stream event on Wednesday. It wasn't only pricing and release dates included with the live stream, Sony have also shown off some new trailers and teased some new games to expect.
Price and Release Date
It seemed with every passing week there was a new "leak" as to the release date and price of the upcoming next generation consoles from Sony.
The price has been confirmed at £449.99 for the disk edition, £359.99 for the digital version. In typical Sony fashion the release date is being staggered. The US, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea can get their hands on either version of the PS5 from 12th November. The rest of the World has to wait an extra week until the 19th November to get theirs.
It wasn't all just about the price reveal and release date however! Check out the trailers below, all of which were captured on a PS5 so we know exactly what to expect.
Final Fantasy
The Final Fantasy fans out there are going to love this one - looks bigger and better than those that came before it.
Miles Morales
Following on from the hit Spiderman game it's clear that Insomniac Games have done it again. From a heavy emphasis on lighting to show off the beautiful ray tracing, to gameplay fighting and new abilities for Miles - the trailer did it's job to build the hype for this game.
Hogwarts Legacy
It was rumoured to be in production years ago, but when E3 2020 was cancelled the rumours were confirmed. Now we have an actual trailer! Set in the late 1800's, way before Harry Potter's grandparents were even born. This dive into the Wizarding World is set the be released in 2021 and for me, it's getting pre-ordered immediately for a day one download.
Resident Evil Village
We've already seen some Resident Evil footage before but this second trailer has given us more insight into the world and emphasising the creepy Silent Hill vibe of the game.
Call Of Duty: Cold War
Call of Duty fans got to see a mission taken from the upcoming game Cold War, which honestly looked pretty epic. Not only that but Sony announced that a PlayStation exclusive Alpha will be available from 18th September.
Five Nights At Freddy's: Security Breach
Horror and thriller game fans rejoice - we're getting another Five Nights at Freddy's game. This time in a whole new location of Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizza Plex as well as a whole host of threats to avoid.
God Of War: Ragnarok
Teased at the very end of the PS5 announcement live stream - a God Of War game coming to consoles in 2021. The only visual we got was the logo but if t's half as good as it's predecessors we're already impatiently waiting.
PlayStation Plus Collection for PS5
Players who have a PlayStation Plus account will be treated to Sony's answer to the Xbox Game Pass. With huge titles including God Of War, The Last Of Us Remastered and Detroit: Become Human set to be available it'll be well worth the cost.
Pre-Order Issues
If you're a PlayStation fan you may have, like us, have been trying desperately to get access to a preorder for the PS5. Well that would have been great if it wasn't handled like a bomb about to go off. With some retailers pushing the button too quickly, to others just selling out of their entire allocated stock within an hour. I guess we'll just have to wait patiently (for now)
Did you get to pre order yours or were you left feeling stressed and annoyed like us?
